Devich TrioHeard the Devich Trio at NCPA yesterday. The group consists of Hungarian pianist Hanna Devich, Dutch cellist Jasper Havelaar and South African violinist Sarah Oates. The group have been performing regularly and their repertoire ranges from Haydn to Shostakovitch.

The concert started with a Joseph Suk piece “Elegie opus 23”. This was followed pieces by Claude Debussy. They then played some Astor Piazolla pieces. These were simply amazing, I particularly enjoyed “Oblivion” and “La Muerte del Angel”. I haven’t heard any piece quite like them to date and the music is refreshingly modern.

Post-intermission they played some Antonín Dvo?ák to conclude the evening. I had a nice time listening to some great music after a long time, plus the trip down to NCPA has given me some new ideas for photographs which I hope to implement soon. Nothing like a little music to inspire you.
